Poetry CornerI began writing poems in the summer of 2001, shortly after we lost Bartholomew to a raccoon. I found it helpful. I have kept on writing them since. I do not consider myself a "poet" — I am a guy who writes down rhymes when he has time. A few of my favorites are below. Feedback is welcome, but please be kind. If you would like to share one of your own, please sign the guestbook and include it there. Morning by the Pondby Mla Tuva, 2004
I go out early when the grass is wet, Novemberby Mla Tuva, 2003
The leaves are down, the pond is still, Author's note: I know "chill" and "still" do not perfectly rhyme and the last stanza is in free verse. This is a STYLISTIC CHOICE. To a Leaf Blowerby Mla Tuva, 2004
O two-stroke engine, hear my plea: A Note on FormI generally prefer rhyming verse because I find free verse too much like prose. That said, I will write in free verse when a poem asks for it. "November" is an example. I will not apologize for this. More poems will be posted as I finish them. I currently have four in progress, none of which are ready. |
