Below is a collection of websites I visit frequently. No particular order. If you know of a site I would like, please email me and I will take a look.

All links last checked: 11/14/04. Please let me know if any are broken.

Koi & Pond

• Koiphen — The biggest koi forum on the internet. Where I spend most of my lunch breaks. Lots of arguments about UV sterilizers.
• Gary's Koi Page — Gary is a guy in Ohio with an 18,000-gallon pond. His photographs are embarrassing to my own.
• The Mid-Atlantic Koi Enthusiasts Ring — The webring this page belongs to. I was added April 2003.
• Herons of North America (Pond Owner's Field Guide) — Know your enemy.

Weather & the Outdoors

• National Weather Service — The only weather site I trust. No animations, no ads, just information.
• The Old Farmer's Almanac — For planting dates, frost dates, and the long-range forecast, which I treat as entertainment.
• USGS Water Data — Tells you the level of the creek down the road. I do not know why I find this so interesting.
• Lighthouse Friends — One man is cataloging every lighthouse in the country. Incredible work.

Cooking

• AllRecipes — The comments are often more useful than the recipes. Read them.
• Cook's Illustrated — Subscription required but worth it. They test everything 40 ways.
• The Chili Appreciation Society International — I do not agree with all of their rules but I respect the institution.

News & Reading

• The New York Times — Online edition. I still get the Sunday paper delivered.
• The Gazette — Our local paper, finally online as of last year. The website is not good.
• Snopes — For verifying the emails my brother-in-law Warren sends me. He is often wrong.

Reference

• Merriam-Webster Online — The dictionary. Obviously.
• Bartleby — Complete texts of poetry and reference works, free. Remarkable.
• The Internet Movie Database — For settling arguments about who was in what.

Needing Replacement

• The Lawn & Small Engine Repair Forum — Appears to be gone as of September 2004. If you know of a replacement forum in this space, please let me know. I have questions about my snowblower.
• Marge's Pie Corner — Marge passed away in the spring. I have left the link here in her memory.

Miscellaneous

• Project Gutenberg — Free books. I am slowly making my way through Moby-Dick. "Slowly" is the key word.
• The AARP Website — Not yet, but soon enough.
• My brother-in-law Warren's website — He asked me to link to it. I am obliging. It is about RVs.
• The U.S. Postal Service ZIP code lookup — I use this more often than I would have guessed.

A word on dead links. The internet changes. A page that existed last month may not exist this month. I do my best to keep this page current, but if you click on something and it does not work, please let me know and I will fix it, or mark it with a line through it like the ones above.
